We thought that knowing a little bit more about our Company Story would help you to know what kind of company you're doing business with.
Atiwa (pronounced "uh-TEE-wuh") Computing's mission, Helping Others, is about helping people solve their computer technology problems. About helping to open doors for them to technology solutions that will help improve their business's lives. About helping to protect them from and prepare them for future challenges.
It's been this way for 2 decades. In fact, that was how we started in 1983 when we recognized a formula to help people solve technology problems. We discovered that with the advent of the personal computer, people needed to rent computers on a short-term basis.
Our very first rental computer, a used Apple II computer, was purchased on Valentines Day 1983 from a young, 16 year old Memorial High School sophomore whose hobby was tinkering with computers. After dealing with him the owners concluded, "when this business gets going, we'll have to think about hiring that lad- he really knows what he's doing!" Well, young Michael Dell went on to great things, but we have fun being able to claim that "we bought Michael Dell's first computer!"
We followed that with several other firsts: Houston's first personal computer rental company. First in the nation to request a yellow page listing for this new category. Founder of it's trade association. One of the first companies performing laser printer repairs and laser printer toner recycling. One of the only network support companies in Houston offering rapid-response, non-contract network support. The first, and only, Houston computer-services company to offer Free Drive-Up Valet Service. The only "First" we're concerned about now is being first in serving YOU.
Our dedication to our mission is exemplified by our sense of urgency: how we helped a customer whose network went down on a Saturday. One of our employees canceled her weekend plans to spend over 20 hours getting them operational again.
Our commitment is demonstrated in how one of our employees was held up at gunpoint inside a bank elevator. After being rescued, our employee told the police that he'd be happy to give them his statement..right after he delivered the computer that he knew his customer had been waiting for!
Our dedication to helping you is confirmed again with the story of how one of our technicians saved his non-profit organization customer over $17,000 by persuading Microsoft to donate all of the crucial software that they needed instead of having to purchase it.
Atiwa has always put the customer first. That's the way we want it. We want to open our doors to helping our customers with their computer technology journey.anytime.all the time.
Thank you for your business!
P.S. Part of our promise of delivery fast, friendly, reliable service is this: a human ALWAYS answers the phone during business hours. And that's not all: you can reach someone at Atiwa Computing 24 / 7 / 365 - our phone number rolls to an on-call person after hours, on weekends, and holidays for any emergency that needs help.
P.P.S.We get a lot of questions about the origin and meaning of the word "Atiwa." Atiwa is a Native American term, Choctaw Indian actually, that means "Opening doors." We liked that term because it best describes what we do for our clients: Open doors to technology solutions. Let us help open doors for YOU!
